Why downspouts matter
A 1,000-square-foot section of roof sheds roughly 600 gallons of water in a one-inch rain. All of it goes down your downspouts. If they are too small, clogged, or dump next to the foundation, that water ends up in your basement, under your slab, or washing out your landscaping.
What we do
- Add downspouts at overflowing corners and long runs.
- Upsize to 3”×4” for larger roofs and 6-inch gutters.
- Relocate downspouts away from walkways, patios and driveways.
- Install extensions to carry water several feet from the foundation.
- Test underground drain lines and reroute above ground when they have failed.
- Fix upper-roof downspouts that dump onto lower roofs.
Signs your downspouts need attention
- Water pooling near the foundation after rain
- Damp or wet basement walls
- Erosion or dead patches where downspouts discharge
- Gutters overflowing near a downspout (clog or undersized)
- Ice on walkways in winter beneath downspouts
