Why homeowners replace their siding
Siding is your home’s raincoat. When it fails, water gets behind it and into the wall, often long before you see the damage inside. Common signs it’s time:
- Warped, cracked or loose panels, especially after wind storms
- Faded or chalky color on the sunny sides of the house
- Soft spots, rot or mold on the sheathing behind the siding
- Peeling paint inside on exterior walls, a sign of moisture getting in
- Rising energy bills or drafty rooms along exterior walls
- Old aluminum siding that’s dented, chalking and hard to repair
Siding and gutters belong together
This is why a gutter company does siding: most siding damage starts with water from the roof. Overflowing gutters, downspouts that splash against the wall, and missing drip edge are what stain, rot and warp siding over time.
When we replace siding, we plan the water path at the same time:
- Gutters come down and the fascia and trim behind them get inspected.
- New siding goes on over a proper weather-resistant barrier, with flashing at windows, doors and roof lines.
- New seamless gutters and downspouts go up, sized for the roof and placed so water never runs down the new siding.
The result is an exterior that looks new and stays dry, with one crew and one schedule.
