Gutter Guards
Do gutter guards really work?
Good ones do. A fine stainless micro-mesh guard on a rigid frame keeps leaves, needles and seeds out while letting water through. Cheap screens, foam inserts and brush guards are the ones that give guards a bad name. They clog, collapse or let small debris in.
Will I ever need to clean my gutters again?
Not in the usual sense. Debris stays on top of the mesh, and most of it blows or washes off once dry. On very heavily wooded lots we may recommend a quick visual check or a light brush-off after leaf season, which is far easier than scooping out gutters.
Can you put guards on my existing gutters?
Yes, if your gutters are solid, properly pitched and securely hung. If they are sagging, leaking at seams or pulling off the fascia, we will tell you, because guards on failing gutters are wasted money. In that case replacing gutters and adding guards together is usually the better value.
Will gutter guards void my roof warranty?
The guards we install fasten to the gutter and sit at the roof edge. They do not slide under your shingles or require lifting them, which is what can cause warranty problems with some systems.
Do gutter guards help with ice dams?
Guards keep gutters clear, so meltwater has somewhere to go, which helps. But ice dams start with heat escaping through the roof, so insulation and attic ventilation are the real fix. We will be honest about what guards can and cannot do.
Do guards keep out pine needles?
A fine micro-mesh does. Pine needles slip through screens and between the fins of reverse-curve covers, but they cannot pass through micro-mesh openings.
How much do gutter guards cost?
Cost depends on linear footage, home height, the condition of your gutters, and the number of corners and downspouts. See our gutter guard cost page for current price ranges, or book a free in-home estimate for an exact written price.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in one day. If we are replacing gutters at the same time, larger homes may take two.

Seamless Gutters
What is the difference between seamless and sectional gutters?
Sectional gutters come in 10- or 20-foot pieces joined with sealant, and every joint is a future leak. Seamless gutters are formed on site from a continuous coil, so each run is one piece with seams only at the corners.
Should I get 5-inch or 6-inch gutters?
5-inch works for many smaller roofs, but 6-inch carries about 40% more water and is the better choice for larger or steeper roofs, homes with valleys that funnel water to one spot, and anyone who has seen overflow in heavy storms. We size each home on the estimate.
How long do seamless aluminum gutters last?
Properly installed seamless aluminum gutters commonly last 20 years or more. Hanger spacing, pitch, and keeping them clear (guards help) matter as much as the material.
What colors are available?
Seamless aluminum comes in a wide range of factory colors, including white, almond, brown, black, bronze and clay. We match your trim or HOA requirements.
Do you replace the fascia if it is rotted?
Yes. New gutters need solid wood to fasten to. We replace soft or rotted fascia sections before hanging the new system and include it in your written quote.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in one day. Larger homes or jobs that include fascia repair may take two.
Service
Siding
Should I replace my gutters when I replace my siding?
Often, yes. Gutters and downspouts usually come off during a siding job anyway, and putting old gutters back on brand-new siding wastes the opportunity. Doing both together means one crew, one schedule, and flashing and trim details that are planned to work together.
Vinyl or fiber cement, which is better?
Vinyl is lower cost, never needs painting and comes in many colors and profiles. Fiber cement is heavier, more rigid and more resistant to impact and fire, but costs more and needs repainting over time. We will walk you through both on your estimate.
Can you replace siding on just one side of the house?
Yes. Storm-damaged walls, additions and single elevations are common jobs. Matching faded existing siding can be tricky, so we will be honest about how close a match is possible.
What happens to the old siding?
Most projects remove the old siding so we can inspect the sheathing and wrap underneath. Removal and disposal are included in your written quote.
How long does a siding project take?
It depends on the size of the house and the material. Many single-family vinyl projects take a few days. We give you a timeline with your written quote.
Do you offer financing for siding?
Yes. Monthly payment options are available for siding, gutters and guards.

Gutter Replacement
How do I know if I need replacement instead of repair?
If the problem is one loose hanger or one leaky corner, repair it. If you have multiple leaking seams, sagging along long runs, rust or holes, rotted fascia behind the gutter, or gutters that overflow even when clean, replacement is the better investment.
How long does gutter replacement take?
Most homes are completed in one day. Larger homes or jobs with significant fascia repair may take two.
Do you haul away the old gutters?
Yes. Removal and disposal of the old gutters and downspouts is included in your quote.
Can I finance a gutter replacement?
Yes. Financing is available. Ask about monthly payment options during your estimate or see our financing page.
Do I need a permit?
Like-for-like gutter replacement usually does not require a permit in our area. If your project needs one, we will tell you up front.
Service
Gutter Repair
Can a sagging gutter be repaired?
Usually, if the fascia behind it is solid. We re-hang it with new hidden hangers and correct the pitch. If the wood is rotted, we replace that section of fascia first.
Why does my gutter leak at the corner?
Corners are seams, and the sealant in them eventually fails. We clean, reseal and rivet the corner. If several corners and seams are failing, replacing the run with seamless gutters is often better value.
Do you handle storm damage?
Yes. Wind, ice and fallen branches can tear gutters loose. Call us and we will prioritize scheduling to get water off your house.
Is it worth repairing old gutters?
If the problem is isolated and the rest of the system is in good shape, yes. If you are fixing the same gutters every year, a new seamless system usually costs less over time. We will show you what we find.

Downspouts & Drainage
How far should a downspout discharge from the house?
As a rule of thumb, several feet away from the foundation and onto ground that slopes away from the house. Closer than that and the water soaks the soil right against your basement walls.
Should I upgrade to 3x4 downspouts?
For larger roofs and 6-inch gutters, yes. A 3"×4" downspout carries significantly more water than a standard 2"×3" one and is much less likely to clog.
My downspout goes into an underground pipe. Is that OK?
It is fine if the pipe is clear and drains somewhere safe. Many older underground lines are clogged or broken, which backs water up into the gutter and the foundation. We test them and recommend the best fix.
Can you add a downspout where water overflows?
Yes. Adding an outlet and downspout at a problem corner is one of the most effective fixes for overflow.
Service
Aluminum Gutters
Is aluminum better than vinyl gutters?
For most homes in our area, yes. Vinyl gets brittle in cold weather and can crack or sag in summer heat. Aluminum handles freeze-thaw cycles much better and can be formed seamless on site.
Is aluminum better than steel?
Aluminum does not rust, which is the main way steel gutters fail. Steel is stronger but heavier and needs more maintenance. For residential homes, seamless aluminum is the best balance of durability and value.
What about copper?
Copper is beautiful and long-lasting but costs several times more. Ask on your estimate if you are considering copper and we will discuss options.
Do aluminum gutters dent?
Heavier-gauge aluminum is much more dent-resistant than thin builder-grade gutters. That is one reason we don't use the thinnest material.
